HVPTO is proud to join HBCSD in celebrating Read Across America Week. Get ready for some reading fun the week of March 1st – 5th. That’s right, this year RAA will be an entire week rather than just one day.
RAA is an annual reading motivation and awareness program whose goal is to build a nation of readers and to inspire every child to celebrate reading. Each TK – 5th grade classroom will be joined virtually by a guest reader throughout the week. We have the Kings color commentator (and former player!), two amazing female athletes (a skateboarder and surfer), a song writer, our local Hermosa librarian, LA County Lifeguards, Hermosa Beach police officers, our new Superintendent, local restaurateurs and tons of amazing voice over actors all set to Zoom in and read to our kids…and answer questions about their super cool jobs too. As always, we’ll have an accompanying book-themed Spirit Week for our TK-5th Graders, courtesy our 4th and 5th grade student council.
For those of you wondering about our annual Book Drive benefiting The Children’s Clinic in Long Beach, due to Covid, the event has been postponed until later in the spring. We will make it happen, just at a different time than we’re all accustomed.
Happy Reading!
