He is President of the American Psychological Association’s Division 46 (The Society for Media Psychology & Technology)\, and Chair of both APA’s “Device Management & Intelligence” and “Strategic Planning” Committees. He is also Executive Director of Outpatient Services for Newport Healthcare\, which recently launched their new PHP/IOP adolescent treatment program under his leadership in Santa Monica\, California. \nDr. Grant designs\, presents\, and facilitates “Healthy Device Management” and “Good Digital Citizenship” treatment strategy and educational training workshops for clinicians\, educators\, parents\, and school communities. \nLast summer\, Dr. Grant was invited to join the APA Coalition for Psychology in Schools & Education\, which was commissioned by the Centers for Disease Control to create a series of adolescent psychology focused support manuals on behalf of the DASH funded APA Safe and Supportive Schools Primers Project. Don and his team completed the last of these manuals in October\, with the entire series to be distributed by the CDC to schools\, administrators\, and educators nationwide. \nDon’s current research includes investigations of potential effects of social media\, cyberbullying\, and device driven attachment bonds on adolescents\, teens\, young adults\, families\, and our culture/relationships-at-large.

The distinction between grief and loss\, common during this pandemic\, and trauma will be discussed; free resources from the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement and the Coalition to Support Grieving Students to address these challenges will be highlighted. DESCRIPTION:Parents of 7th and 8th grade students:\nHermosa Valley will be hosting an assembly about vaping on November 13th. This assembly is only for 7th and 8th grade students. Sponsored by South Bay Families Connected\, speaker Alex Gray will visit our campus to talk about the realities of this unhealthy trend. South Bay Families Connected and Alex Gray have been visiting schools all over the South Bay to help make an impact and “turn the tide” on vaping in our community. We would like to open this assembly to 7th and 8th grade parents who are available to attend. The assembly will take place on 11/13 at 11:20am in the Hermosa Valley MPR.
